I think this "contractor saw", CTJ650, design with the overhanging motor is outdated, and wasn't very good at the time either. I have this model, did a fair bit of work on it, but, it will not keep its alignment, re-align and then after a couple of bevel cuts it is out of whack again. Gave up doing it myself, took it down for a "service".Had a look at the one in the showroom - the alignment was worse than mine !!!!??? They quoted me about $800 to align it, or $600 for a new assembly - hopefully not borrowed from the display model. Got a cabinet saw from someone else, much better mechanics, not intrinsically unstable. Hardly any more money. Most of them seem to be older models reconfigured for 240volt that have quite a large shipping cost added. Most avaliable are Taiwanese or Chinese built. As far as I'm aware there is no distrubtor for Delta or Power-matic (though carbatec is said to stock PM later this year.)Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05240874505954111506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2421012727480303339.post-57505827853864247372013-01-09T02:18:41.586+11:002013-01-09T02:18:41.586+11:00I would say if you are comfortable with machines t...I would say if you are comfortable with machines then nothing can compare to Saws made in USA. For example Oliver, Old Powermatic 66, Yates American, etc. If you are not comfortable with the power saw then the Saw Stop is a solid option for modern day saws. Just a thought. <br />Freddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04258087497025481387noreply@blogger.com
